Inside the Green Bay Police and Fire new incident command vehicle.
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) โ The Green Bay Police Department and Green Bay Metro Fire Department are showing off their newly acquired state-of-the-art Incident Command Vehicle.
This mobile command center is a joint purchase by the Green Bay Metro Fire Department and Green Bay Police Department, addressing the need for updated Incident Command Vehicles for both departments.
The new unit is built on a 2024 Freightliner M2 chassis and equipped with a 450 hp Cummins L9 engine. Key features include:
- Three separate rooms with four slide-outs for enhanced space.
- Up to 12 fully operational workstations with secure internet access.
- Triple-redundant internet connectivity for uninterrupted communication.
- Five external surveillance cameras for improved situational awareness.
This vehicle will play a crucial role in managing large-scale emergencies and special events. It will also be stationed at Lambeau Field during the upcoming NFL Draft, providing critical support throughout the event.
โTo have it in time for the draft, with the scale of that event being what it is, it will be a real asset not just for our operations but also for working in collaboration with Brown County and the Village of Ashwaubenon,โ said Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich.
Since the police and fire departments are sharing the unit, Green Bay taxpayers saved half a million dollars.
